Privacy policy

The short version
Every calculator works without an account and without your name. The salary, savings and age you type stay in your browser and are not sent to us. We collect personal data only when you send it to us through a form, and analytics only if you allow it. We don't sell data, we don't show ads, and we don't pass anything to colleges or coaching institutes.
Who we are
Postgradtruth.in is run by Amogh Dixit, an individual based in India, who is the data fiduciary for this site under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. For anything about your data, including complaints, write to amoghdixit7@gmail.com.
What we collect, and when

Stored only on your device
Your shortlist, your last calculator inputs (kept for 30 days), your theme, your analytics choice, and any form that could not be sent while you were offline are kept in your browser's local storage. We can't see them. Clearing your browser's site data deletes them.
Who handles it for us
Netlify hosts the site and keeps standard server logs, including IP addresses. Cloudflare runs the service that receives forms and the AI that writes study plans. Google (Analytics, and the fonts), Microsoft (Clarity), and fxratesapi.com and open.er-api.com (exchange rates) receive your IP address when your browser contacts them. Some of these companies process data outside India.
How long we keep it
Digest addresses until you unsubscribe. Counsellor requests and applications for as long as the request or listing is open, and no more than 12 months after it closes. Stories while they are published. Analytics for the retention period set in our Google Analytics account (at most 14 months), and as Microsoft Clarity's own limits allow.
Your rights
You can ask for a summary of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or erase it, withdraw your consent at any time, and nominate someone to act for you. Email amoghdixit7@gmail.com and we'll reply within 30 days. Withdrawing consent stops future processing; it doesn't undo what was done before. If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

Children
This site is for people choosing a postgraduate course, who are adults. We don't knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you're under 18, don't send us your details through a form.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. A change in what we collect will be shown on the form that collects it.
