Verdict
IIT and IISc M.Sc: research-grade training and a direct line to a PhD
Fee ₹19K (M.Sc phase 2 yr, excl. hostel; old data), hostel and mess about ₹38,500 a year. NIRF 2025 median salary ₹14 LPA median (NIRF 2025), with 679 of 1,219 graduating PG students placed. Through JAM it offers only a joint M.Sc-PhD, not a standalone M.Sc. NIRF's salary and placement figures cover all of its 2-year PG programmes, not only this one.
